Tasting Room Fire & Closure

On Wednesday, March 2nd at approximately 8:45 PM, Larson Family Winery in Sonoma caught fire and suffered catastrophic damage to the winery’s Tasting Room. The barn-turned-tasting room suffered irreparable damage and will be closed until further notice.

So many of our wonderful community and Wine Club members have reached out for more information. Here are some updates and FAQs around the situation.


Oh no! What happened?

The tasting room suffered a catastrophic fire on the evening of Wednesday, March 2nd.  Our proximity to our neighbors, the Schell-Vista Fire Protection District undoubtedly helped as the heroic firefighters had the fire extinguished within 30 minutes of the initial 911 call. The cause of the fire is still “indeterminate” per the Fire Department.  We are thankful that no one was hurt – two legged or four legged.  We are heartbroken at the loss of our business and the priceless Sonoma Rodeo and Larson Family historic memorabilia that was destroyed.

Are the dogs OK?

Yes, the Three Labs, Louie, Rosko and Ollie are a little sad wondering where all their winery friends are, but are perfectly safe and sound.  All the human Larson Family and Team are ok, too.

Will you reopen?

Yes! While we’re still very much in the recovery phase, we are moving forward with every intention of opening back up and being a place where you can continue to make great memories.  The future Tasting Room may look a bit different, but the Larson’s signature brand of Sonoma Hospitality will be there to welcome you back!

I’m a Wine Club Member, what does this mean for me? 

We love our members – thank you all for your support at this time! If you have your Wine Club allotment shipped to you, it will be business as usual! Most of our inventory and fulfillment center were not impacted by this fire, and you will continue to receive your Wine Club shipments.

If you are a Will Call member, we will be returning to a Curbside Pickup format by reservation only.  Please head to our reservations page or contact the Wine Club team to schedule your appointment. We’ll pack up your shipment(s) ahead of time and have them ready to pop right in your trunk.

How to Support

Larson was lucky that much of our wine inventory remained intact.  We store our wine in the barrel room and off site at our fulfillment center, that are all functioning as normal. You can shop for our wines right here on our website or become a Wine Club member to enjoy Larson at home while the tasting room rebuilds.
